Framing & Wiring

Works for hanging in our shows must be framed and wired for hanging to professional standards. Use D-rings and weight-appropriate wire that is not visible when the painting is hung. Paintings on canvas do not require frames as long as the edges are painted or gallery wrapped to professionally standards.  All show accepted artwork must be exhibition-ready at the time of art drop off.  Art work not exhibition ready will not be accepted to the show. Please note if framing or wiring is faulty at the time of hanging, the artwork will be not be hung in this show.  Artists will be notified to recover their work from the show manager.

Gallery wrapping is when the artwork is stretched and affixed onto stretcher bars.  The canvas completely covers the stretcher bars and is attached to the back of the frame-- no visible staples. Gallery wrapping creates a three-dimensionality to your artwork. The painting continues around the entire edge, wrapping around the edges so that your artwork is visible from all angles.   Additional Information on Gallery Wrapping

Do not use saw-toothed hangers or flimsy framing. Also, do not submit wet canvases.

Works larger than 20” x 28”, if not pastels, should be glazed with Plexiglass (or equivalent).
