Members Happenings
Welcome New Members!!! Lots of Them!!
Since the publication of the June MAA News, we have recruited TWENTY (20) more new members!!! That brings our total new members for 2011 to forty-three (43)!!! At this pace, and assuming everyone renews their highly exciting and valuable memberships in September, we could have well-over 50 new members buy the end of 2011. That will leave us a little bit short of our goal of 200 total members but that number represents and tremendous accomplishment. Thanks to everyone for promoting our growing art association. Now, we can focus on a new goal that will be discussed in a later issue.
It almost goes without saying that many of the new members listed below joined because they saw the MAA Gallery at Westfield Wheaton Mall and could not resist the chance to show their work to the public for a minimum of 28 hours EVERY week!!! And, all for the very small membership fee of $30! Most of these new members are amazed at how big the benefit is for such a small fee and resultant time commitment.
The new members are Elizabeth Koepenick, David Brosch, Carol Porter, Luciano Rigato, Don Dailey, Sally Drew, Virginie Montet, Pauline Squier, Pamela Mason, Azar Nayeri, Behrouz Sarabi, Liz Gerstein, Roberta Staat, David Frye, Maria Quezada, Dianne Tesch, Sam Miller, Vanessa Carpenter, Janet Schroeder, and Ruja Shemer. Whatever the reasons for joining, we would like to welcome each of them to our MAA community of artists. Please welcome them at our receptions at the MAA Gallery, our monthly meetings or other MAA events.
Despite our recent membership success, each of you needs to get out there and talk to your friends about joining. Remember: if you alone recruit ONE new member, our goal would be reached. Think of how many artist friends you have who would benefit from being an MAA member. It’s only $30 per year AND you get the 28 hours per week of Gallery exposure for your artwork! Who could resist that?
Let’s continue to move forward towards our goal. Ask yourself---have I recruited a member lately? It’s an easy sell. Try it!!

Nods to Renewers & Newcomers
Since the publication of the April MAA News, we have recruited six more new members. That brings our total new members for 2011 to twenty-three (23)!!! At this pace, and assuming renewals in September remain as in past years, MAA membership would increase by 46 members in 2011.
As of this writing, MAA is now 118 members strong. Please remember that even though we are doing well in membership recruitment as noted above, our goal is still to get to 200 for 2011. Each of you needs to get out there and talk to your friends about joining. Remember: if you alone recruit ONE new member, our goal would be reached. Think of how many artist friends you have who would benefit from being an MAA member. It’s only $30 per year. There is no better deal in the Washington area art association market!!!! And--- you get a Gallery for no extra charge. Growth in membership starts with you—the existing member. Let’s continue to move forward towards our goal.
